Women's The Wretch Flannel

Before Hollywood gave Frankenstein’s creature a face, an 18-year-old woman dreamed him into existence. Her name was Mary Shelley.

In 1818, she published Frankenstein and unleashed Victor Frankenstein’s nameless creation on the world. Creature. Fiend. Demon. Wretch. More than two centuries later, we dug him back up, slicked back his hair and turned him loose in the Hales world.

Instead of the bright neon green that became the modern shorthand for Frankenstein’s monster, we went back to the colorized posters for Universal’s 1931 Frankenstein. The creature was pale, muted and sickly, the color of rotting flesh that had no business walking again. We pulled those greens into a dark mix of black and charcoal, creating one badass green flannel that grows more wretched the closer you get.

Inside the back yoke, our greaser reimagining of The Wretch stares back through dead eyes. Metal clamps bite into the top of his skull, thick staples hold his head in place, scorched bolts protrude from his neck, and Mary Shelley is inked across the chest of the creature she brought to life.

Pearl black snaps run throughout the flannel, while green lightning bolts charge each wrist, transforming them into a pair of high-end cufflinks built for monster mayhem. We even swapped our normal HALES pocket label font for dripping green lettering, letting one more piece of the monster escape to the outside.

From the very first women’s flannel we released, our fit has been tailored specifically for women. We spent an entire day measuring and adjusting the pattern alongside a local tailor with more than 40 years of experience specializing in women’s garments until we had it right. The Wretch is built with that same Hales women’s fit, complete with bust darts and a 1.5-inch drop tail. Even the Bride herself would rock this one with black leather leggings and look absolutely electrifying.
