5 Rules of the Custom Paint Booth

Preparation is Everything

In the paint world, the hard work happens in the dust. There is never a moment when you can mask over a bad foundation. If your bodywork isn't straight, the candy paint will tell on you the second that paint hits the metal. In paint, you spend 95% of your time in the dust, block sanding and masking, just for that 5% behind the spray gun.

No Shortcuts, No Templates

True custom artists still lay out their lines by hand.

A master painter doesn't download a template; they grab a roll of blue-fine line tape, a grease pencil, and rely on muscle memory and eye alignment to lay down those curves. If you're pulling pinstripes, you're using a dagger-style squirrel-hair brush loaded with enamel, where a single twitch of the wrist can mean wiping down thousands of dollars of base coat just to start over. There are no 'undo' buttons in the paint booth. 

We do things the old-fashioned way too, line by line or, in our case, thread by thread. Our artwork starts with an idea and a pencil. Our graphic tees use original, hand-drawn artwork that you won't see anywhere else.

Lose Sleep over the Reflection

A real custom painter is their own worst critic. They lose sleep at night over a slight wave in a reflection on a quarter panel. They'll chase that perfection one clear coat at a time until the finish looks like a mirror.
